Who we are

Cann's Electrical is an electrical contractor based in Cardiff, working across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and the surrounding areas of South Wales. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Cann's Electrical.

What we collect

We only collect what we need in order to answer your enquiry and carry out work.

• Your name, telephone number and postcode, from the enquiry form
• The details of the job you describe, including any photographs you send
• Your email address, if you email us or provide one
• Messages you send us by WhatsApp, text or email
• The address where work is to be carried out, once a job is agreed

We do not collect payment card details through this website.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To answer your enquiry and give you a price

When you send an enquiry we use your details to reply, ask any questions we need to, and provide a quotation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have contacted us asking for a price, and we cannot respond without using your details.

To carry out work you have accepted

If you accept a quotation, we use your details to book the work, attend the property, issue certificates and invoice you. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract.

To meet our legal and regulatory obligations

Electrical installation certificates and related records must be produced and retained. Invoices and accounting records must be kept for tax purposes. Our lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

To send you offers and updates

We only do this if you have ticked the box asking us to. Our lawful basis is consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying to any message or ringing us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own marketing.

• Our website form provider, which delivers enquiries to our email inbox
• Our email provider, which stores the messages we send and receive
• Our accountant and HMRC, where invoices and records require it
• A certification or competent person scheme, where a job must be notified

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to twelve months, so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us. Records relating to work carried out, including certificates and invoices, are kept for at least six years, as required for tax and for any liability arising from the work.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other websites. Nothing on this site requires a cookie banner as it stands. If that changes, this section will be updated and consent will be requested.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
